SCAE, after having worked successfully for several years in the field of design and manufacturing, has evolved into an industrial organization, establishing itself in a short time both on the national market and abroad, thanks to its consolidated experience, its specialization, and constant research activity, development and technical update.

The construction criteria used make use of strict compliance with national and international regulations (CEI-IEC-UNI) and the company Quality system has been certified in accordance with UNI-EN ISO 9001 (DNV Certificate. N. CERT-0234-94-AQ -MIL-SINCERT).

The production covers all the series of low and medium voltage switchboards and is integrated by a production of command and control panels for automation systems with PLC and supervision programs on Personal Computers. The production is completed by a series of products for the infrastructures sector which include containerized transformation cabins (ICS) and armored cabins for tunnels and mines (UMS).

  • 1972

    Angelo Tiraboschi sets up the Società Costruzioni Apparecchiature Elettromeccaniche, in short: SCAE. Offices and Production Units are located in Seriate (BG)

  • 1980

    Expertise and experience gained in the field are reflected in the design and construction of the first true SCAE product series: the UNIMCC series (Motor Control Center)

  • 1981

    The UNIMCC series is subjected, with a positive result, to the TYPE TESTS. The tests are carried out at the Galileo Ferraris National Electrical Institute (TO)

  • 1983

    The move to the new headquarters in Pedrengo (BG) sees the expansion of both the Production Unit and the Offices

  • 1987

    SCAE also begins to deal with Industrial Automation, developing the first PLC and HMI software

  • 1988

    SCAE enters the Big Yards market designing and realizing the first transformation/distribution substations in containers: the MODULAR series

  • 1989

    The success of the MODULAR substations at construction sites around the world and the customer’s requests for robust, compact mobile substations, drives SCAE to design and build the first specific transformer substations for harsh environments such as tunnels and shafts: the TBS series

  • 1992

    The first TBS type substation is designed and built to be installed onto a Tunnel Boring Machine; in the incoming years, SCAE will develop a complete product line (transformation substations, command and control panels, distribution panels, PLC panels, VFD panels, control consoles, management software) expressly dedicated to TBM manufacturers

  • 1994

    The Grassobbio (BG) site is inaugurated, characterized by a significant expansion of all the units (productive, technical and managerial)

  • 1994

    Obtaining the Certification relating to the company Quality System according to the requirements of the UNI EN ISO 9002: 1994 standard

  • 1997

    SCAE obtains, among the first companies in its sector, the certification of its Company Quality System in compliance with the requirements of the UNI EN ISO 9001: 1994 standard. The certifying body is DNV Italy

  • 2000

    An autonomous Department for Industrial Automation is created, endowed with independent resources and assets from the original Technical Office

  • 2001/2002

    SCAE wins the supply of tunnel and container substations for the Gotthard Basistunnel Los 252 (Amsteg) railway yard in Switzerland (canton Uri): given the considerable size of the work and number of users (lighting, wells and cooling pumps, fans, conveyors belts, fire doors) that the transformation/distribution substations will supply, the SCAE designers propose to the Customer to equip each substation with its own PLC in order to control and command the utilities and related alarms from remote, connecting via optic fiber all CPUs with each other and with SCADA Server/Client stations, set up in control rooms located in strategic places of the site, to allow managers and operators/maintenance personnel a continuous and constant and real-time control of the plant; the proposal is accepted and thus one of the first and largest construction sites controlled and managed by PLC / SCADA in the world is born

    The SCAE Company Quality Management System obtained the certificate according to the UNI EN ISO 9001: 2000 standard, issued by DNV Italy

  • 2005

    A specific variant of tunnel substation (TBS ATEX pressurized series) is designed and built to be used in potentially explosive environments; the prototype is subjected, with positive result, to the TYPE TESTS. The tests are carried out at the CESI (Centro Elettrotecnico Sperimentale Italiano)

  • 2007

    The UNICONTROL series, industrial command and control panels, is UL certified (cULus) for the US and Canadian markets according to UL 508(ISBN 0-7629-0398-8).

  • 2009

    The TBS series obtain cTÜV (Rheinland) model certification in accordance with Canadian standards (24kV, 1250A)

  • 2010

    The SCAE Company Quality Management System obtains the certificate according to the UNI EN ISO 9001: 2008 standard, issued by DNV GL

  • 2014

    The company logo is renewed and a short motto is incorporated, which effectively sums up the Company Mission specifically aimed at customers: “POWERS UP YOUR PROJECTS”

  • 2015

    The TBS tunnel substations evolve into a further variant, specifically designed for construction sites with “Drill & Blast” type excavations, adopting specific reinforced structures and closing handles, modified and strengthened bumper shield / stone guard, dedicated PLCs and communication processors

  • 2017

    The UNIPOWER series obtains the IP41 protection certificate. The tests are carried out at the I.N.R.I.M. , Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica (TO)

  • 2017

    The UNIPOWER series brilliantly passes the temperature and short-circuit tests (100kA, 4000A 3”) and obtains the relative certificate. The tests are carried out at the I.N.R.I.M. , Istituto Nazionale di Ricerca Metrologica (TO)

  • 2018

    The SCAE Company Quality Management System obtains the certificate according to the UNI EN ISO 9001: 2015 standard, issued by Accredia/DNV GL

  • 2020

    The construction model UNIMECH_66 has been passed with success the strict tests of the tightness again water and dust ingress, obtaining the IP66 degree of protection certification. Tests carried out in the DEKRA laboratories
